Last night, we found out that we’re moving to the greater Seattle area in January!!! Although we seriously considered putting our overseas pick(s) as #1, when it comes down to it, this is the last time we’ll probably be able to live by family. And you can’t beat that. We’re excited to be close to Karl’s parents and Sara’s brother and sister-in-law. We’re scoping the housing market, crying silent tears at the property taxes, and trying to consider all our options. Let us know if you know anything we don’t!!! Here’s to going home!
Karl put in our top 10 choices on Friday. Since the powers that be almost always give you one of your top 5, we put the following:
1. Seattle, Washington (We don’t think anyone else put this#1–Hurrah! Karl would travel to Turkey alot. He would probably be 4 months out of every year.)
2. Menwith Hill, England (super cool job description–lots of NSA and top secret stuff–lots of other people put this too….)
3. Anchorage, Alaska (I’m putting in for a new wardrobe if we get this assignment!)
4. Germany (Again, super cool job description and location, but lots of other people put it in their top choices.)
5. Marysville, California (Northern Cali–hello Arnold!)
This is in response to Leigh’s complaint that we don’t update this enough! So here’s the what’s going on with us lately:
1. Mom and Dad visited last weekend–such great fun! We went to historic Fort Concho and toured the old buildings etc. Pictures to come just as soon as Dad forwards some of them too me (hint hint!)
2. Karl’s classes are going well. There is a “job fair” at the end of July–this will give Karl a chance to see what jobs/locations are available and the different responsibilities at each place. We have the chance to put in our top 10 choices, and the Air Force will relocate us based on those choices. Please pray that God puts us where he wants and not necessarily where we want! That can be a hard thing to surrender sometimes!
3. Sara has finally finished merging their lives and now she’s job hunting. This has proved a little challenging since we’ll be leaving the middle of January. Although substitute teaching is the most obvious job opportunity, she’s been looking at other possibilities. Last week, she had an interview with United Way–yesterday she had a second interview with the CEO. She would be helping out with the fundraiser “push” between August 1 and November 30. Sara is one of three candidates. We’ll keep you updated.
4. We’ve found a church! After a month and a half of searching–and some rather interesting experiences–we’ve settled at Southland Baptist Church. Pator Taylor is young– there’s a choir, stained glass windows, and pews. (Yes, I realize that pews aren’t really THAT big of a deal, but it’s more and more unusual these days!) There’s a Sunday School class for young couples, and we’re excited to plug into the men’s/women’s/ and children’s ministry. www.southlandbaptist.org
We love and miss you all!!!!!!!!!!
